Four eras of roof in one suburb

Ashfield is a genuine mix, and the roof you have depends on which part of it you live in. Around Liverpool Road and the station there are Victorian terrace rows with parapets and box gutters. Spread out towards Ashfield Park and Pratten Park and it becomes Federation and inter-war brick with eaves and tiled hips. Walk-up flat blocks. Long gutter runs serving a big catchment through very few downpipes, rusted sheet ends, and lifted ridge capping after wind. These need the drainage sized to what the roof actually collects, not to what was adequate in 1958.
